February 15-19, 2021
Each Friday afternoon we will send out our “This Week at Liberty” email, which highlights the various activities that will occur during the upcoming week. If you would like to receive email notifications for events at Liberty, email email@example.com.
To view events scheduled beyond the next week, visit our home page at www.LibertySD.us, where you’ll find the monthly district calendar located toward the bottom.
No School Monday, February 15, in recognition of Presidents' Day.
Now that we have moved classes in grades 1-6 to four days a week, students/families who have chosen in-person instruction are expected to be in class daily, if healthy. Families who have chosen to have their students learn with fully remote instruction may continue to do so. If a student must quarantine, remote learning will be coordinated between the teacher and the student with their family.
Liberty's annual Read-a-Thon returns March 1st! We have been selected to partner once again with Silverwood's Read2Ride program, allowing K-6 students the opportunity to earn a Silverwood day-pass upon completing 10 hours or more of reading during the month of March. More details, along with reading folders, will come home with students at the end of February.

BUS DRIVER REGULAR POSITION- The Hatch Rd. bridge will be closing for construction sometime in April and remain closed through September. Because this bridge closure cuts off one of our bus routes we are needing to add another daily route to our schedule. We are posting for a regular bus driver position for the period of time the bridge is closed with the possibly this route could be made permanent. Insurance benefits are included with this position. If interested contact the district office or apply on our district website. www.libertysd.us
On the school district webpage, you can access the district's COVID-19 Dashboard which will document:
- Positive COVID-19 cases within the last 14 days.
- Students or staff quarantined for being in close contact with a COVID-positive individual within the last 14 days.
- Notes regarding each building’s current status.
- Guidelines for COVID-related student attendance.
The dashboard page also includes daily home screening instructions and a link to the daily attestation cards.
Below is the current guidance on when students must stay home.
When must my child stay home?
- If they or anyone in the household has any class A or class B symptom of any duration
- If they or anyone in the household tests positive for COVID-19
- If they or anyone in the household has been tested for COVID-19 and the results are pending.
- Routine workplace COVID testing for parents/guardians is an exception, as long as the individual tested is symptom-free.

- If they have been in close contact with anyone who has been tested for COVID-19 and the results are pending
- Routine workplace COVID testing is an exception, as long as the individual tested is symptom-free.
There may be some changes coming soon to the rules around quarantines as the CDC recently changed their recommended procedure. Once Spokane Regional Health Department has made a change in the quarantine times, we will pass that information on. Until then we are required to follow the quarantine procedures and timelines that we have been using. All of this information may also be found on the school district webpage on the COVID Dashboard. (Click here to go to the COVID Dashboard)
Please contact Nurse Miranda Holling at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions or concerns.
Please remember to complete an attestation card for your student each day they attend school. If you have misplaced the first set of cards sent home with your student, there is a link to a printable copy on the COVID dashboard.
Substitute Bus Drivers Needed
Liberty needs substitute bus drivers! If you’ve ever considered learning to drive a bus (or putting your existing CDL to use), now is a great time to act. All training is provided by the district, and any expenses incurred during the licensing process will be reimbursed on a set schedule once you begin to work at Liberty. This is a great opportunity for stay-at-home parents, grandparents, or part-time workers with morning and/or afternoon availability. Application materials are available HERE. Contact Rick Brash, transportation supervisor, at 245-3217 if you have any questions.
