Each Friday afternoon we will send out our “This Week at Liberty” email, which highlights the various activities that will occur during the upcoming week.  If you would like to receive email notifications for events at Liberty, email kwrenchey@libertysd.us

It was certainly great seeing more students back in the building each day last week with the 1st grade now coming to school Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  As a reminder, all 2nd grade students will be coming in on those same days starting this Monday, January 11th.  In order to keep the still required 6’ spacing, some more classroom desks needed to be ordered so that we can plan daily in-person instructions for students in grades 3-6.

    Tentatively, we’re planning on:
3rd graders returning on Monday January 25th
4th graders returning on Monday February 1st
5th graders returning on Monday February 8th
6th graders returning either Monday Feb. 8th or Tuesday Feb. 16th

The Junior High and High Schools are looking at options and attempting to plan when and how to have our secondary students attending daily as well.

Healthy WA- Roadmap to Recovery- This week governor Inslee released a change in the metrics used for reopening our region.  He announced a “Healthy Washington – Roadmap to Recovery

As part of this new plan COVID rates are tied together regionally not county by county.  When we are able to move to “Phase 2” in our region, some indoor after school activities will be able to be conducted within special guidelines.  The tracking site as of the time this message was being made had not been shared out yet.  Even with Phase 1, our Athletic Director, Kyle Dodge and Mr. Fletcher are working the possibility of some limited opportunity for basketball players and wrestlers who were unable to have their fall practice season.  More information on this should be coming next week.

    COVID-19 Dashboard
On the school district webpage, you can access the district's COVID-19 Dashboard which will document:

    • Positive COVID-19 cases within the last 14 days.
    • Students or staff quarantined for being in close contact with a COVID-positive individual within the last 14 days.
    • Notes regarding each building’s current status.
    • Guidelines for COVID-related student attendance.

The dashboard page also includes daily home screening instructions and a link to the daily attestation cards.

Below is the current guidance on when students must stay home.

When must my child stay home?

    • If they or anyone in the household has any class A or class B symptom of any duration
    • If they or anyone in the household tests positive for COVID-19
    • If they or anyone in the household has been tested for COVID-19 and the results are pending.
      • Routine workplace COVID testing for parents/guardians is an exception, as long as the individual tested is symptom-free.
    • If they have been in close contact with anyone who tested positive for COVID-19
    • If they have been in close contact with anyone who has been tested for COVID-19 and the results are pending
      • Routine workplace COVID testing is an exception, as long as the individual tested is symptom-free.

There may be some changes coming soon to the rules around quarantines as the CDC recently changed their recommended procedure.  Once Spokane Regional Health Department has made a change in the quarantine times, we will pass that information on. Until then we are required to follow the quarantine procedures and timelines that we have been using.  All of this information may also be found on the school district webpage on the COVID Dashboard.  (Click here to go to the COVID Dashboard)

Please contact Nurse Miranda Holling at mholling@libertysd.us with questions or concerns.

    Attestation Cards
Please remember to complete an attestation card for your student each day they attend school.  If you have misplaced the first set of cards sent home with your student, there is a link to a printable copy on the COVID dashboard.

    Bus Drivers Needed
Liberty needs substitute bus drivers!  If you’ve ever considered learning to drive a bus (or putting your existing CDL to use), now is a great time to act.  All training is provided by the district, and any expenses incurred during the licensing process will be reimbursed on a set schedule once you begin to work at Liberty.  This is a great opportunity for stay-at-home parents, grandparents, or part-time workers with morning and/or afternoon availability.  Application materials are available HERE.  Contact Rick Brash, transportation supervisor, at 245-3217 if you have any questions.
