    Staff Appreciation Luncheon

On May 9 our Boosters coordinated an appreciation luncheon for all Liberty staff to enjoy.  A classroom was transformed into an inviting dining space, and dozens of dishes were prepared and donated by Liberty families.  This is an event we look forward to every year, and the work that goes into making it happen is so appreciated.  Thank you to Bethany Ashmoore for coordinating the luncheon and the many volunteers who helped set up, clean up, prepare food, donate gift cards, and make this a special treat for our teachers and staff.  A thank you card signed by many of the staff is attached.

K-8 Fun Run Rescheduled to May 24

Inclement weather reports caused us to reschedule the K-8 Fun Run to Friday, May 24, beginning at 2pm.  Join us if you’re able!

    K-4 Spring Concert - Wednesday at 6pm

Please come and support our K-4 students in their final musical program of the school year, including a special performance by the 3rd and 4th grade bucket drumming crew. Students should report to their classrooms no earlier than 5:50pm.  The program will begin at 6:00 in the elementary gym.

    Band & Choir Concert - May 28, 7pm

Join us Tuesday, May 28, for the 4th Annual Liberty Music Awards Concert at 7pm in the high school gym.  The outgoing seniors will be recognized, awards will be handed out, and our 5th-12th grade band and choir groups will entertain with their final concert performances.  Complimentary cake will be served starting at 6:30 as a thank you to supporters of the music program, and root beer floats will be available for purchase as well.

    State Assessments

The spring state testing schedules for students in grades 3-12 are attached for your future planning.  Testing will begin in late April and continue through May.

Food Service Update re: Charging Meals

It is the district’s policy that charging meals to accounts with negative balances will not be allowed as of the first serving day in May.  If you have any questions or need to make payment arrangements for an overdue meal account, please contact Food Services Supervisor Danita Shaw at 245-3211 ext. 7-2219 or email dshaw@libertysd.us.

    District Calendar Updates

The board at its April meeting approved our application for a waiver for our third snow closure day.  We anticipate this will be approved by OSPI, so our last school day will remain Friday, June 7, dismissing at 10:25am at the EJH and 10:35am at the HS.

The board also approved the late start schedule for next year.  We will once again have 1-hour late starts on Mondays for staff development.  The District Calendar has been updated on the website, which you can view here.

    Substitute Custodians Needed

We are in need of additional substitutes for custodian coverage.  These shifts are typically afternoon/evening assignments on an as-needed basis.  Click here to apply, or contact Aaron Fletcher for more information at afletcher@libertysd.us or (509) 245-3229.

    Bus Drivers Needed

Liberty needs substitute bus drivers! If you’ve ever considered learning to drive a bus (or putting your existing CDL to use), now is a great time to act. The need for substitute drivers increases during the busy winter athletics season. All training is provided by the district, and any expenses incurred during the licensing process will be reimbursed on a set schedule once you begin to work at Liberty. This is a great opportunity for stay-at-home parents, grandparents, or part-time workers with morning and/or afternoon availability. Application materials are available HERE. Contact Rick Brash, transportation supervisor, at 245-3217 if you have any questions.
