September 21-29, 2018
Each Friday afternoon we will send out our “This Week at Liberty” email, which highlights the various activities that will occur during the upcoming week. If you would like to receive email notifications for events at Liberty, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have specific interests with regard to athletics, you can visit www.LibertySD.us/athletics to view up-to-date, sport-specific schedules and information.

Late Start Mondays
Buses and breakfast will run one hour later than normal every Monday (with the one exception of November 19, an early release day). Our school day will begin at 9:05 in the HS and 9:10* in the EJH building. Staff will use this time each week to work on curriculum, assessment data, and evaluation systems to enhance student achievement.
*If you will need childcare on any of these mornings, supervision can be arranged starting as early as 7:30 for students dropped off at school. Please contact the elementary school office to make arrangements by the week before.
Picture Retakes – October 1
Leo’s Photography will return for individual picture retakes on Monday, October 1. All students who were absent on September 5 will have their pictures taken that day, and those who need retakes need to bring their picture packets to school to exchange for a new picture. Photo package order forms are available at either school office, or packages can be ordered online at www.leosphotography.com by using the assigned school code (EJH=FR1172392, HS=FR1172395).
Change to E/JH Curriculum Night
Due to some scheduling conflicts on the evening of September 27, we are piloting a new format to disseminate the elementary and junior high curriculum information. We are embracing the convenience of technology and providing this information online for you to watch on your own schedule. Please note: The classrooms will not be open the evening of September 27 as noted in the red calendar.
Each of our grade-level teams has put together a video presentation that will be emailed out on Monday with a link to access each of your child’s classrooms. If you have additional questions for your child’s teacher, we encourage you to connect with them through email or a phone call. Thank you for your understanding as several parents commented they too were unable to attend an evening event but liked the idea of a video link.
Booster Club Events
Welcome Back from Junior Boosters! If you have any questions or would like to volunteer for upcoming events, please email email@example.com.
-Sport-A-Thon: K-8 students participated in their Sport-a-Thon event day on Friday the 21st. Please send all donation collection envelopes to school this week and no later than Wednesday for our final fundraiser tally and scheduling student and classroom incentives. Thank you for your support of Liberty students!
-Liberty Nation Spirit Wear: We are ready to submit a new order for Liberty Nation spirit wear. Click to view the order form for pictures, prices, and details. The order deadline is Friday, October 5, with anticipated delivery toward the end of October.
Youth Volleyball, Grades 1-6
Liberty Youth Volleyball practices will begin September 24. More information and registration paperwork can be found on our Youth Sports website at https://www.libertysd.us/site/Default.aspx?PageID=265. Please contact coaches Lynn Cook or Steph Stout with any questions.

Bus Drivers Needed
Liberty needs substitute bus drivers! If you’ve ever considered learning to drive a bus (or putting your existing CDL to use), now is a great time to act. The need for substitute drivers increases during the busy winter athletics season. All training is provided by the district, and any expenses incurred during the licensing process will be reimbursed on a set schedule once you begin to work at Liberty. This is a great opportunity for stay-at-home parents, grandparents, or part-time workers with morning and/or afternoon availability. Application materials are available HERE. Contact Rick Brash, transportation supervisor, at 245-3217 if you have any questions.
