    2019-20 District Calendar Adopted

The Board approved the dates for the 2019-20 school year at its February meeting.  The calendar dates for next year have been posted on our website at https://www.libertysd.us/site/Default.aspx?PageID=16.

    Term 3 Ends Friday

Friday, March 22, marks the end of our third quarter.  Grades will be finalized and report cards will be sent home with students the week of March 25-29.  Remember, you can check your student’s progress or view current and past reports cards 24/7 via Family Access.  Please contact either school office if you need help with access or a password reset.

Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences & Science Fair – Thursday, March 28

School will dismiss early on March 28 and 29 (11:55 at EJH, 12:05 at HS), and buses will arrive to afternoon stops 3 hours early on those two days prior to spring break.  Thursday, March 28, is set aside for parent-teacher conferences, and teachers will be at school for meetings after school until 7pm.  Due to the limited time available, we ask that conferences only be requested if you have concerns about your student’s progress at this point; teachers may contact parents to set up a meeting time as well.  School-specific information letters are attached.

    • Our K-8 Science Fair will be held the same night as spring conferences. Please plan to stop by the gym to see the student projects on display from 12:05-7pm on Thursday the 28th.

K-6 Read-a-Thon:  Read Around the World

Liberty Elementary students are participating in the annual Read-a-Thon this week to focus on the importance of reading with the added bonuses of fun dress-up days and competing for prizes.  Students are reading for incentives, and top readers who attain the “Golden Ticket” level of 700 minutes will earn a chance for additional prize drawings.  Students have log sheets for tracking their daily reading minute totals.  Special dress-up days are scheduled as follows:

Wed., 3/20:  Keep the World Green (wear green for the first day of spring) -or- Crazy Hair or Hats

Fri., 3/29:  Pajamas or Winter Wear

Fri., 4/12:  Sports Day or Red/White/Blue (final day of Read-a-Thon; reading log sheets due)

    Missoula Children’s Theatre – Gulliver’s Travels

This week we welcome Missoula Children’s Theatre and their student production of Gulliver’s Travels.  Auditions are open to all Liberty students in grades K-12 who turned in their permission slips.  Auditions will take place Monday after school, and rehearsals will be held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday after school.  The performances will be this Friday:  all students will attend the 1pm matinee, and the public is invited to the 7pm performance in the HS gym.

Ticket costs are as follows:  Adults-$6, Seniors-$5, Children-$4, Family-$20.  Ticket prices help to offset the costs of bringing this program to Liberty.  Liberty Bucks are welcome!

    • Volunteers are needed to help with MCT week! If interested, please contact parent coordinator Jaime Rohrbach via email or call 509.590.7806.

    Substitute Custodians Needed

We are in need of additional substitutes for custodian coverage.  These shifts are typically afternoon/evening assignments on an as-needed basis.  Click here to apply, or contact Aaron Fletcher for more information at afletcher@libertysd.us or (509) 245-3229.

    Bus Drivers Needed

Liberty needs substitute bus drivers! If you’ve ever considered learning to drive a bus (or putting your existing CDL to use), now is a great time to act. The need for substitute drivers increases during the busy winter athletics season. All training is provided by the district, and any expenses incurred during the licensing process will be reimbursed on a set schedule once you begin to work at Liberty. This is a great opportunity for stay-at-home parents, grandparents, or part-time workers with morning and/or afternoon availability. Application materials are available HERE. Contact Rick Brash, transportation supervisor, at 245-3217 if you have any questions.
